UFL: Bugema gets off the mark on the second attempt against KU

Bugema University registers first win of 2024-2025 Pepsi University football league season after beating Kampala University 2-1.

The game took place on Tuesday 1st October 2024 at Bugema University main campus ground.

Through Fred Wamani Bugema University scored first in the 3rd minute of the play via a corner swinged in by right full back Charles Kagoda.

From there, hosts Bugema University continued to give hard times to the visitors Kampala University throughout the entire halftime.

Thanks for Brian Ozelle who stood to Denny Felix Wafula and Aziz Opio with two flying saves over corner kicks.

Visitors Kampala did not get much chances but defender Charles Kagoda with his presence denied Joshua Odeke and Joseph Owor connection in the first half.

The game went at rest with Bugema University sitting in control looking leading 1-0 in a fight to avoid what happened to them during their opening game where they lost to Gulu University.

Bugema got even in much comfort zone when Sulaiman Ssentongo extended the lead to 2-0 with a header after meeting Wafula Felix cross just 3 minutes after the restart of the game from halftime.

Bugema did get enough enjoyment when Benjamin Nsubuga scored a powerful header from Sharif Ssembatya’s corner In the 54th minutes.

In the 72nd minute of the play, Ssentongo found another chance to make it 3-0 but was denied by Benjamin Nsubuga.

The visitors was always at low tone but raised the sting on Bugema University in the 80th minute as they avail for the equaliser but the hosts was well equipped to held on the pressure.

At the end of the game the standing was Bugema University 2-1 handling the first defeat to the flying Eagles who come in the game with a win over Kampala International University from the opening game.

The league will resume on Wednesday 2 October 2024 in Ndejje as they host
