NLGRB, USPA kick off nationwide responsible gaming campaign

National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board recently partnered Uganda Sports Press Association to create mass sensitization on problems attached on gaming addiction.

On Wednesday 16 October 2024 the partnership hosted Stakeholder Engagement for Responsible Gaming.

The event held at 4 points by Sheraton aimed to reinforce regulatory compliance with a focus on responsible gaming taking the campaign nationwide campaign.

Journalists was called to strengthen collaborating in promoting responsible gaming and create opportunities in the sports sector.

Council Samuel Lukambi has urged journalists to keenly care on Responsible gaming,

“This is a case were journalists having a key role to play, most of the journalists are gaming intermediary giving sure bets to create much effects”

Also the Council who serves as the FUFA Legal officer Urgued members of the media to protect young Generation

“As gaming intermediaries it is a concern to protect minner, it is bad to start advertising betting tips during day”

Also by the 2023 news sports low act it is illegal to do intermediary without working licences so I advise journalists to acquire licences there they will be guided on Responsible gaming”

It is a key step in protecting members of the public from the effects of Gaming.

A key focus of the engagement was the need for responsible gaming measures a major role to protect young people and those prone to problem gambling.

The CEO at the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory board Denis Ngabirano has commended USPA efforts in promoting sports activities in the country through the various updates.

“As National Lotteries and gaming regulatory Board we has appreciates USPA’s efforts toward promoting sports activities, now we call much focus on this campaign”

This partnership can yield benefits in making the gaming sector a positive arm in the country”

USPA president Moses Alsaid Lubega called fellow journalists to remind their role against the habit

“As sports journalist we have the power to reduce the dangers that come with irresponsible betting”.

The campaign is programed to take on country wide basis.
