NEC return to winning ways with comeback win over Maroons

NEC FC returned to winning ways on Friday October 18 with a 2-1 win over Maroons FC at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo.

Two second half goals from by Paul Mucureezi and Muzamir Mutyaba aided the come back for the Soldier Boys after going down through defender Jacob Ocao’s own goal down.

The Prison Wanderers’ goal came four minutes after the break before Mucureezi equalized nine minutes later.

Thirteen minutes after the hour mark, Mutyaba managed to get the winner to complete the hosts’ comeback for win their fourth game of the campaign.

This victory takes NEC FC top of the Log with 12 points in five games while Maroons stay in 11th with 5 points, 7 off the summit.

In their next games, NEC will once again host a UPL game, welcoming Wakiso Giants on the 23rd October while Maroons play host to SC Villa three days later.

Elsewhere, SC Villa blew away a two-goal lead against Soltilo Bright Stars FC to draw 2-2 at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku with the Jogoos goals coming in from Patrick Jonah Kakande in the 13th minute and Charles Lwanga nine minutes later

The visitors goals came in the second half from Pascali Oketcho, eight (8) minutes after restart and Mustapha Kassim equalized with four(4) to end the game.

The draw left SC Villa in seventh place on 7 points while Soltilo Bright Stars FC remain winless with three points in five games.

For Mbarara City and Kitara, both canceled out each other late in game Ronald Edwork with a 83rd minute  goal only to be canceled out by Patrick Kaddu’s level in the last stroke of the game.
