19 October 2024 marked the Launch of the maiden Gulu city marathon which shall raise funds to revamp qualitative education In Gulu city community.
The Launch was held at Kampala club Nakasero with Mark Ongom the Chairman of Gulu city marathon organizing Board.
At the Launch Ongom revealed the date for marathon and the benefits aimed from Gulu Runs Initiative
“The Gulu city marathon will take action on 7th December 2024, 10% of the raised grands shall benefit the Dera Kwan initiative”
Dera Kwan is an organization dedicated In enhancing Education In Northern Uganda.
Ongom furthurly explaining “participating In the marathon offer chance to participants to contribute on education revamp in Northern Uganda”
Following the Launch, the registration was confirmed to don online via https://gulucitymarathon.com at a cost of 60,000 Uganda Shillings.
The Launch also had Amos Wekeza the Board Member of Gulu City Marathon, Francis Girama the Chairman Gulu City Marathon steering committed, Benita Mulelengi the captain of First and Furious running club.
Girama emphasized the Marathon’s unique course which offers opportunities for participants to run on the most flat terrain, the course is perfectly suited for runners aiming personal best.
Wekesa on his address authored an opportunity for Marathon participants to tour the Murchison falls and called Ugandan to come on and support the local community economy
The Marathon is under a theme to run for culture and heritage.
