The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach arrived yesterday (Tuesday) in the evening with his wife and some delegation from the IOC and ANOCA.
At the airport, he was welcomed by government officials led by State Sports Minister, Peter Ogwang, NCS Chairman, Ambrose Tashobya, NCS General Secretary, Patrick Ogwel while Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) was represented by the President, Don Rukare, his vice, Moses Mwase , General Secretary, Beatrice Ayikoru while on the side of the athletes, they were represented by 10,000M Olympic Champion, Joshua Cheptegei, former World Champion, Halimah Nakaayi and Winnie Nanyondo.
They had some discussion at the airport VIP Lounge and later headed to Wildlife Center and Speke Resort, Munyonyo where he finished his day one.
His day two (Wednesday) started with a meeting with the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja at the Office of the Prime Minister in the morning and later headed to Game Connect Refugee Project at Yes Center in Nsambya where he engaged with the Refugee Youths in a number of activities and later he addressed the Press at UOC complex, Lugogo where he promised Ugandans to come back for another visit because Uganda is a good Country with good people.
After addressing the press, he headed to State House to meet the First Lady, who is the Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni and later joined the dinner .
Thomas Bach, is the ninth IOC President who was elected on 10,September, 2013 at the 125 IOC Session which was held in Buenos Aires and his 12 Presidential term will come to an end next year (2025).
