Put summons 4 new faces into Cranes squad as the team set for preparations ahead two decisive AFCON 2025 Morocco Qualifiers.

Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has summoned the squad that will play the final two games of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers this month.

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put switches 4 players while announcing players for the dicisive games of 2025 AFCON Qualifiers..

In the squad Put included fourth goalkeeper in the name of Mutwalib Mugolofa of KCCA FC joining Ismail Watenga, Nefian Alionz and Charles Lukwago in the department.

He also made changes in defense which saw defender Godfrey Wasswa included in the squad and two forwards, Hakim Kuwabula and John Paul Sembe making the squad.

Come in for Defender Ellio Capradossi, Striker Muhammad Shaban, Derrick Nsibambi and Arnold Odong who were in the previous squad.

To note Put has maintained his midfielder unchanged as he keeps a total of 23 players from previous squad while 21 players have made the squad for the entire campaign.

The squad is having 27 players, nine are home based with KCCA FC is the most represented club with 4, SC Villa has 3 and the other two are from Kitara FC.

Uganda will take on South Africa at home (Mandela National Stadium) on 15th November 2024 before visiting Congo four days later at Stade Alphonse-Massamba-Débat in Brazzaville..

The two games stand in a chance for Uganda to seal qualification to the AFCON 2025 finals with a point needed from the possible six.

Coach Put explained why he has summoned four goalkeepers this time, with the inclusion of Mutwalibi Mugolofa who plies his trade at KCCA FC.

“We are aware that CHAN is around the corner and we have games against Burundi next month. So I needed to have him (Mugolofa) around the set up and also get training seasions with the goalkeeping coach. He has been performing well in the League and maybe next time we will summon another goalkeeper.” He said.

The Team will enter residential camp on Sunday at Cranes Paradise, Kisasi with foreign based players joining as and when they arrive in the country.

Uganda tops Group K on 10 points, two ahead of South Africa while Congo and South Sudan have four and zero points respectively.
