Mbarara City FC have confirmed Paul Nkata as their new head coach.
Nkata fills the void left by Livingstone Mbabazi in July after the current Onduparaka coach terminated his contract by mutual consent.
The former URA FC tactician is understood to have signed a short term deal with the Ankole Lions and will be their head coach until the end of the season.
Mbarara City FC have temporarily been under the guidance of Brian Ssenyondo but after just a single victory in their first five Uganda Premier league games, the club have been forced to bring in someone else.
Nkata’s appointment was confirmed by Mbarara City on Tuesday afternoon.

Nkata has been without a club since he was fired at Kenyan side Kakamega Boys.
His departure from Kakamega was attributed to match fixing and he was sent away along with his assistant Hamzah Lutalo.
In Uganda, his last coaching role was at URA FC where he spent a few moths before he was fired in the wake of a 7-1 humiliation away to KCCA FC in the 2018/19 season.
Nkata has previously Coached at URA FC and a host of Kenyan Clubs including Tusker, Kakamega and Bandari.
At the time of his arrival, Mbarara are 10th on the log with five points and on the back of a 2-2 draw away to Vipers SC.
Nkata’s first game will be at home to Busoga United on the 2nd of October 2019.
Nkata the youth footballer
Paul Nkata was born on March 22, 1960. He is the fifth of eight children to Yusuf Sendagala and Tolofina Nazziwa of Jinja-Karoli, Maganjo in Wakiso District.
He was a stylish midfielder in his hey days and is widely regarded as one of the most stylish players to have graced Ugandan football in the 80’s and early 90’s.
He was a fine dribbler and entertainer endowed with speed.
Football fans and the media admired his stylish play and nicknamed him “latest.”
Nkata grew up in a football family and four of his siblings were established footballers. George Sendagala (RIP) and Eria Sewanyana (RIP) featured for Nsambya and Bank of Uganda FC, Isaac Sempiira (Fisheries) and Benon Masembe (Bank of Uganda).
Nkata first showed signs of football ingenuity while at Jinja-Karoli Primary School but it was while at Kololo SSS 1977 that he showed his true potential – mainly as sweeper.
He also featured prominently for the Uganda Cranes winning the CECAFA Senior Challenge cup thrice before retiring in 1991.
