Connie Galiwango, the Mbale district woman MP claims to be persecuted for supporting the presidential age limit constitutional amendment says her two homes, in Seeta Mukono and Mbale have been monitored by these goons.

Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is on Wednesday expected to meet top government ministers following threats to the Mbale woman legislator Connie Galiwango Nakayenze’s life of recent.

Interior minister Gen. Jeje Odongo, security minister Gen. Elly Tumwiine and Premier Ruhakana Rugunda are expected to draw solutions to Galiwango’s distress call.

The MP says since 2011 she has been tracked by potential killers.

Recent withdrawal of Police guards assigned to her protect, she says, has not helped the situation.

“The DPC then in Mukono, who gave me the police guards in 2011, is the same DPC who withdrew my guard last year. And he is the same DPC who had recently been sent to Mbale” she says.

Days ago, a death note was dropped at her Mbale home with a warning to pay 400 million shillings or be killed.

Following the incident, Minister Obiga Kania ordered for a police guard to be assigned to the MP, only for him to be withdrawn three days later, thanks to ‘orders from above’.

“I don’t know who this above is and since I have come to this august house, I need help because everybody in my home is living in fear”, she said.

“If I am given a police guard of my choice, at least I know much as God is protecting me, I will be safer. Both here in Seeta and Mbale”, Galiwango prays.

Ruling on the matter, Speaker Kadaga acknowledged that Galiwango had approached her on similar matters but thought the situation had calmed down.

“I think I will invite the minister of internal affairs, Prime Minister and security group so that we can have a meeting to discuss security of our honorable member, I will convene the meeting possibly tomorrow”, Kadaga hints.

Connie Galiwango is married to Dr. Hassan Galiwango a National Resistance Movement (NRM) stalwart.
