URA tax payer’s appreciation week officially opened at Kololo.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF has joined the rest of the country to participate in the URA organised tax payer’s appreciation week at Kololo ceremonial grounds

The exhibition will run under the theme: “Every taxpayer counts , if everyone pays, no one pays more”.

The Minister of Trade,Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde while opening the exhibition,thanked all the tax payers in Uganda for the tremendous role they play in supporting the government because its from these taxes that government runs all the programs.

She further thanked the URA officials for closing the gap between tax payers and URA officials and for also raising collections over the past years.

The Minister urged the URA commissioners not only to end with exhibition organization but also endeavor to follow up on the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) performance after, to especially see their impact on the community.

While addressing the Exhibitors, the Commissioner General Ms Doris Akol thanked the all sponsors and participants for their continued support and positive response toward their fulfillment of the corporate social responsibility role in the country.

She added that URA is cognizant of the fact that the role of mobilization cannot be done by URA alone and hence the need to plug in synergies of other partners.

“To that note I thank the ministry of defence as a partners for their tireless efforts and endeavors towards developing the country’s economy more especially on the security part. It has helped Uganda boost her export trade since we have signed and ratified a number of treaties in the East community, COMESA and Africa trade Unions where security remains key” she added.

Throughout the three days,the Ministry of Defence shall provide demonstration on how some of its entities make products such as soap, petroleum jelly.

MODVA exhibitors are represented by National Enterprises Corporations (NEC), WAZALENDO, UPDF Spouses Desk, Mubende Rehabilitation Center, and the Directorate of Veteran Affairs.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs was represented at the ceremony by Brig Ddiba Ssentongo the Deputy Managing Director NEC ,Brig Richard Karemire the Defence Spokesperson Brig Emmanuel Shilling the Director Uzima and Col Joseph Onata CEO WAZALENDO SSACO among others.
