U19 Uganda Badminton team flagged off to Russia for world championship.

The U19 badminton team flags off to Kazan Russia to participate in the world badminton championship to be held from Sunday 30th September to 13 October 2019.

The six team players, three boys and three Girls and coach Ivan Kalimunda are flagged off today Friday by Nankya Sarah and Kigogo officials from National council of sports .

Coach Ivan Kalimunda who lead the delegation promises to finish in the quarter final blacket.

“Our goal is to enter the quarter final blacket. This is our second time to go in the big tournament like this, and in Canada we finish in the 32nd position, and this time we are well prepared and the players now got a bit of exposure and we promise a better result in the tournament”.

However, the captain Brain Kasirye of the team promised to perform better than the last tourney.

“We are ready to participate in the tournament and this time we promise to do better because now we have some exposure than before in Canada”.

Uganda is in the group A with Indonesia the number one ranked country and Finland in Europe. Uganda shall start on Monday with Indonesia.

Uganda is the only country in Africa who participated in the World badminton championship and this is the second time for Uganda to participate in such a championship and the first was in Canada last year.
