Express FC have had a disastrous start to the 2019/2020 campaign.
The Red Eagles are currently 13th on the standings with just four points from their first six games.
They have also lost two consecutive game that is to SC Villa before the league break and to Proline on Tuesday this week.
After letting go of close to 20 first team players, head coach George Ssemwogerere looks like he will require time to steady the ship at Wankulukuku.
None of his team’s departments seems to be work of late.
The defence has let in nine goals already and Express are the only side to concede at least a goal in each of the matches they have played this season.
At the other end, they have scores only 5 goals, below a goal per game.
Against Police, the Red Eagles will be targeting all threw points to avoid dropping into the relegation zone.
“We are very ready as always before a game, said Ssemwogere ahead of the game.
“This time round we have to make sure we get all three points against Police FC.
“We have tried to train well so that we avoid conceding because it is a problem that we know we have to curb if we are to start winning consistently. We have to reduce on the number of mistakes we do from upfront so that tge amount of goals we concede reduce.
Express will still be without injured first choice goalkeeper Mathaius Muwanga. The custodian who has not featured in a single game this season in their only absentee for the game on Sunday. Ssemwogere and his technical team will have to decide on whether to continue with Tony Kyamera who conceded two free kicks on Tuesday or recall Joshua Adea who featured in the first five games.
For Police FC, the look to be slowly picking up form after a disastrous start to the campaign.
In their first two games, they had -3 points after failing to honour the opener against Onduparaka and also losing 2-0 at home to Bul FC.
However, they drew with both SC Villa and Mbarara City before defeating Kyetume 1-0 on Tuesday.
Currently, they are second from bottom with just two points but a victory on Friday will see them climb into 12 on the log.
Police’s head coach Abdallah Mubiru is finally settled back at the club after FUFA announced a new head coach for thw Uganda Cranes.
With Mubiru now fully concentrated on the Cops, this will be a motivational factor as they go on the hunt for a victory.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two clubs since October 2010.
In the previous 19 meetings, Express have won 8, Police 5 with the other six all ending in draws.
However the Cops have won three of the last four league fixtures between the two sides.
Last season, this fixture produced two away victories with the Cops winning the reverse fixture 2-0.
However, the Red Eagles triumphed in the last competitive meeting between the two sides, requiring penalties to eliminate the Cops from last season’s Uganda Cup.
Express come into the game having won only one of their previous 7 league fixtures (D1 L4). Their only victory in that period came in the 3-2 come-back victory over Mbarara City FC.
At home, George Ssemwogerere’s side have been fairing ok, losing just two of their last 8 league games (W3 D3). However, the two defeats have come in their last two games at Wankulukuku, losing to both Onduparaka and SC Villa.
For Police FC, they enter the contest on the back of just a single victory in their last 9 league games (D4 L5). The sole victory came in their latest game away to Kyetume (0-1).
The Cops have also won only one of their last 10 league games away from home (D4 L5).
