Bulega names 35 players to start preparations for CECAFA Women’s Championships

The Uganda Crested Cranes head coach Faridha Bulega has named a squad of 35 players to start preparations for the 2019 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup.

The tournament which will be played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania is expected to start on the 14th and end on the 24th of November.

The 35 players will start non-residential training on Thursday, 31st November 2019 at Luzira for five days before the team enters a residential setting at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

By 11th or 12th November 2019, the final team will be named that will travel to Dar es Salaam.

It has also been confirmed that Ruth Aturo will be the captain of the side.

Uganda is in Group B alongside Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.

It is viewed as the group of death as Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia are powerhouses in women football in the region.

Uganda will have to be at their best so as to progress as their latest meetings with both Kenya and Ethiopia have not ended well.

Group A will see hosts Tanzania tussle it out with Zanzibar, Burundi and South Sudan for a place in the last four.

Hosts Tanzania are the defending champions and have won the regional tournament for the last two editions.
