Vipers SC vs URA FC

Vipers SC have been the best side in the league s far this campaign.

The Venoms are flying high and are not showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.

After 12 games, they are yet to lose a game and hold a three point lead at the top of the standings.

The good start has been partially helped by the acquisition of striker Fahad Bayo in the summer.

Bayo who joined Vipers from the Zambian League has already scored 8 goals and named player of the month of September.

He has won his side more points than any other player in the league so far.

Vipers’ concern has only been not controlling games in a more comfortable fashion.

The Venoms have spells to kill off contest but fail and end up on the back foot more often than not.

Against URA, Vipers should know how good the Tax Collectors can get on a given day.

However, Vipers’ head coach Edward Golola thinks this is the right time to face a side like URA FC.

Vipers will have to preserve their unbeaten start minus long-term absentees Shaban Muhammad and Livingstone Mulondo. Youngsters Abdul Karim Watambala, Denis Kiggundu and Bobosi Byaruhanga will not be part of this fixture as they started their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams at St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School. The rest of the squad is available for selection save for Frank Tumwesigye who lacks match fitness after returning to training from a fever late-last week.

URA FC have so far been one of the disappointments of the season.

After a busy off season, the Tax Collectors have started the campaign miserably and are yet to show signs that a take-off is just around the corner.
Sam Simbwa’s side are currently 10th with 14 points.

Their only motivation has been the fact that they are unbeaten in their last 6 games. However, they have only one just two of those six games.

When the two sides met at this venue last season, URA defeated Vipers 2-1.

This was the Tax Collectors second consecutive victory away to Vipers.

Can they be third time lucky and in the process end Vipers unbeaten start to the season?
