Africa Netball Confirms Uganda As The Host Of Africa Netball Championship For Men And Women

Despite the hustle they are still in with National Council of Sports that has adamantly refused to give their funds for activities, Africa Netball, the governing body on continent confirmed Uganda as the host of the 13th edition of Africa Netball Championships.

According to the letter this website got a copy, Africa Netball on Wednesday, 5th April 2023 wrote to Uganda Netball Federation president, Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah confirming her that Uganda is the host of the two in one tournament, women and men Championships.

“We refer to your letter dated 23rd March 2023 where the Uganda Netball Federation is confirming to host the 13th Edition of the Africa Netball Cup and the first of its kind Africa Netball Men’s Netball Cup.” Letter partly reads.

“Africa Netball is pleased to give Uganda Netball Federation the hosting rights upon confirmation that all the hosting requirements will be in place before and during the tournament and that these will be followed for the smooth running of both competitions.” The letter from South Africa confirms.

According to inside sources, Uganda wants to host these two tournaments at Makerere University Indoor Arena that is under construction and it’s likely to be completed before July this year.

Those Uganda Netball still crying of no money, Inspectorate General of Government ordered National Council of Sports to transfer all the monies belong to Netball so that they prepare for these tournaments and World Cup but till now, NCS has never wired the money.

This is the second time uganda is hosting this tournament and the first one came in 2017 and Uganda won that tournament but for men, it’s the first of it’s kind.

The tournament is expected to be held in November 2023 that is after world cup.
