Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has signed a new long-term deal with the Nerazzurri until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The Italy international’s previous terms were due to expire in 12 months’ time, and he was the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur last year.

Bastoni’s agent ruled out an exit from San Siro for his client, but his uncertain contract situation apparently caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester City.

However, the 24-year-old has now laid any speculation to rest by committing his future to Inter for the next five years, having developed into an integral player for Simone Inzaghi.

The Nerazzurri paid a €31.1m (£26.6m) fee to sign a teenage Bastoni from Atalanta BC in 2017, and the centre-back has since produced three goals and 14 assists in 164 matches for the club.

Inzaghi has won one Serie A title, two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italianas with Inter, while also collecting a Champions League runners-up medal last season.

While Bastoni has been tied down to fresh terms, Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij’s deals expired at the end of June, and the former will soon be unveiled as a Paris Saint-Germain player.

On the other hand, De Vrij is understood to have agreed a new two-year contract with Inter, and confirmation of the Dutchman’s renewal is expected soon.
