Anukani, Bayo impress as Uganda defeat Burundi 2-1 in the CECAFA opener

Hosts Uganda has defeated Burundi 2-1 in the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup opening match held at Lugogo on Saturday December 7th.

Bright Anukani opened up the scoring for the Uganda cranes in 8th minute before Fore Fahad Bayo added the second in 21st minute to Uganda a half time 2-0 lead.

Bururndi returned from the break with attacking strategy which worked for as Rurasenga Cedric netted one in 60th minute which wake up McKinstry’s boys to reshaped and more power that maintained their 2-1 lead to the end of the 90 minutes.

Uganda is now leading their group B with 3 points.

Only two players, Yusuf Ssozi (Police FC) and Mike Mutyaba (KCCA FC) are out of the squad that played against Burundi in CHAN Qualifier.
