Archbishop Emerutus Dr. Augustine Kasujja celebrated 50 years in service and expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the gift of life he has granted him and enabling him to serve for such a period of time.
While leading the service at Lubaga cathedral, Kampala Diocese Vickar General Msgr Gerald Katumba expressed concern over people who make efforts to fight against the church especially through the use of money that in leading to conflicts alover the country.
Dr. Augustine Kasujja appreciate God for choosing him to serve and above all, enabling him to stand firmly and serve him for the period of 50 years, since 1973.
Through his message that was delivered to the church by his representative in Uganda Archbishop Luigi Bianco, Pope Francis appreciated Dr. Augustine for his commitment and obedience during his work.
It should be noted that Dr. Augustine Kasujja was the first Pope’s representative in Africa. He has been serving as the Pope’s representative in different nations including Belgium, Tunisia, Namibia, among others.
The Buganda prime minister Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, through his message which was delivered by the buganda minister of local government Owek Joseph Kawuki, commended Dr. Augustine for respecting his culture and loving his King during his service.
The Archbishop of Kampala Diocese commended Dr. Kasujja for serving with all his heart, and added that even when he retired, he continued to serve his God, through joining the church in different activities.
This function was attended by, cardinals, Rev Fathers, from Uganda and outside countries such as Taiwan, Kenya, Nigeria among others as well as the former vice president HE Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Owek. Cotilda Nakate, among other dignitaries.
