Archbishop Kaziimba Meets Compassion International Uganda’s Outgoing and Incoming National Directors

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has met the outgoing National Director of Compassion International Uganda, Mr. Lenny Mugisha and the incoming National Director, Mr. Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe.
During the meeting took place in the Archbishop’s Office in Namirembe, the Archbishop expressed his gratitude to Mr. Lenny Mugisha for his steadfast leadership of Compassion in Uganda and his exemplary collaboration with the Church of Uganda. The Archbishop commended his tireless efforts in transforming the lives of underprivileged children and communities and offered his heartfelt prayers for blessings in his new role.

Additionally, Archbishop Kaziimba warmly welcomed Mr. Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe and pledged the Church of Uganda’s continued partnership and unwavering support to Compassion’s mission of positively transforming communities and improving the lives of those in need.
According to Mr. Lenny Mugisha, these key changes in Compassion International Uganda, a leading Christian holistic child and youth development organization’s top leadership, is part of the organization’s strategy to expand its outreach to more children living in poverty across the nation.

Lenny Mugisha, who has dedicated nine years of his life to serving as the National Director of Compassion International Uganda, was promoted to the position of Senior Regional Director of Program – Africa, with effect from 1st January 2024.

His remarkable journey with Compassion International began in January 2009 when he joined as a Program Director for Compassion Rwanda.
When Lenny assumed his role in 2014, Compassion Uganda partnered with 265 churches to serve 82,562 children in its programs.

Today, the organization collaborates with 485 churches, impacting the lives of more than 142,135 children. Under Lenny’s leadership, staff numbers also increased substantially, growing the team from 85 members upon his arrival to a formidable 132-strong workforce.
Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe, a seasoned child development practitioner with a wealth of experience. His journey in child development began in 1999 when he served as a Project Director at a Frontline Church Partner in the Mukono Cluster.

Since joining Compassion International Uganda in 2005, Mr. Ahimbisibwe has held various roles, including Senior Manager of Partnership, Senior Manager of Program Support, Acting Program Communications Manager, Training and Support Manager, Partnership Facilitators Supervisor, Senior Partnership Facilitator, and Partnership Facilitator, among others.

The meeting was also attended by Rev Dr. Paul Kakooza, the Director of Education Services in the Church of Uganda.
