Base of ethics and integrity to fight corruption

Caritas staff members from four dioceses under Gulu Archdiocese have been awarded certificates after completing a two days training on strengthening ethics and integrity at work to ensure a proper implementation of policies for a better performance.

Participants stated that some officials in various organizations go an extra mile of using organizational assets/equipments like vehicles in their Private issues without seeking a permission from the authority which is unethical behavior or conduct.

They went on to mention other unethical behaviours among employees including alcoholism, conflict of interest, falsification of accountability, nepotism, sexual harassment and pledged to ensure transparency so that Caritas is seen a modal of ethics and integrity right from what they have learnt.

Meanwhile the Executive Secretary – Laity Apostolate at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat Fr Frederick Tusingire emphasized the importantance of making difference in the society by fighting corruption which has become the factor of the day.

Fr Tusingire noted that immorality and corruption are on high in Uganda to the extent that has deepen the grassroots in the society where by even children involved.

In the same manner Fr Tusingire said Catholic Church as an institution is aimed at promoting dignity and trustworthy amongst the people and avoid selfishness and encouraged the participants that while delivering their work, the first priority and service be given to the needy people than those who are well off.
