‘Be creative through the challenging economy’ Katikkiro Mayiga cautions Buganda Kingdom board of directors

The Buganda premier Owek Charles Peter Mayiga has challenged the Buganda kingdom heads of departments to endeavor being creative provided the challenging economy taking place in the country.

He mentioned this as he was meeting all the department heads and board of directors at Bulange Mengo and advised them that even in this period when the country’s economy is facing challenges, they should devise means of making the departments they lead to survive so that they can keep running and bringing in money at the same time.

Owek. Mayiga noted that however much the country’s economy is not doing well, but he has witnessed people and companies in the same country which are doing well, thereby challenging them to make sure that they struggle for their departments to fit in the economy.

In the same way, the Katikkiro has challenged them to be very careful while securing loans from different lending organisations for their departments, saying that it should be done when it is the last resort, and urges them to put the loans secured to their rightful purposes.

He said that mismanagement of loans through using it for other purposes different from the purposes for which they were secured, may lead the company into financial crisis since it finds it had to pay back.

However, Owek. Mayiga has warned departmental heads to always prepare the people who can perform their duties during their absence just in case, so that their absence does not affect the daily running of the department in any way.

He cautioned them to make sure that they respect and pay the taxes for the company, noting pay as you earn, income taxes among others so that the companies do not suffer the negative consequences of dodging taxes.

The Buganda kingdom departments that were represented include Majestic brands, Buganda land board, Lubiri high school, werinde insurance company, Bucadef, Muteesa 1 royal university, Suubiryo zambogo Sacco among others.
