Kitara FC left it late to come from 2-nil down and salvage a point against Mbarara City at the Kigaaya playground in the FUFA Big League.
Jude Ssemugabi’s brace was cancelled by John Kisakye’s double in the second half.
The top of the clash table didn’t disappoint and it lived up to the expectations after an epic performance.
Mbarara City will be disappointed after letting the three points slip at the dead and they could drop out of the promotion places.
They are just two points above Police FC in the fourth place who have a game in hand.
The hosts will be happy with a point and they maintain the top spot with five matches to end of the season.
However their lead at the summit is now slim with just a point after NEC held on to overcome Northern Gateway 2-1.
They turned the result round after trailing for 84 minutes but they had a magical performance in the last six minutes.
The Royals remain unbeaten at Kigaaya playground.
Mbarara City took an early lead in the 8th minute through Ssemugabi who capitalised on Kamugisha Clinton back pass to silence the home crowd.
The hosts pressed for a leveller by couldn’t get the finishing touch with Dudu Ramathan, Moses Sseruyidde, Kamugisha all coming close.
Sunday Godfrey tried from long range to double his side’s lead but it went over the bar before Tembo Ibrahim also had a go at goal.
In the second half, the Royals had nothing to lose as they went all out but the visitors were firm to tame the pressure.
In the 78th minute, Ssemugabi doubled the host’s lead after the Goalkeeper fumbled with Henry Kitegenyi’ shot.
The goal all but ended the hosts hope of a come back.
However, Kitara FC couldn’t settle for less and in the 85th minute, Kisakye John pulled one back to give his side some hope of a point after coming on for Edson Agondeze in the 80th minute.
In the 97th minute, Kisaakye restored parity from the spot to complete his brace.
Kitara FC remain top of the log with 48 points after 25 matches while Mbarara City drops to third with 45 points.
They will return to action on Thursday 20th, Kitara FC will travel to Kyetume at Nakisunga Saza Ground while Mbarara City will welcome Luweero United at the Kakyeka stadium.
