Following the increasing rate of land grabbing around the country church land inclusive, the Bishop of Mukono Diocese The Rt Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo has challenged Christians to make use of the church land so that they avoid people from grabbing and encroaching on it.

He noted this at St.Luke church of Uganda Bukaya Parish Nakibizzi Archdeaconry, as he continues his pastoral visit around mukono Diocese, and he also led a confirmation service of 42 students.

The Bishop said that some parts of the church land has been left idle for sometime which may be some of the reasons that attract encroachers to make use of it. He cautioned Christians that one way to protect the church land is to make use of it for productivity as this will help them to protect it.

He adds that making use of the church land will also help the Christians to improve financially and fight poverty among themselves, and also help to support church activities, which will help the church to stop depending on donations from other countries.

Bishop Kogodo also cautioned church leaders to endavour acquiring land titles for the church land as a way of securing it from people who grab it claiming it belongs to them. He said that having land titles will comfirm to the encroahers that the land belongs to the church.

Bukaya Parish priest Rev Ephraim Mbatya has appealed to the government to come out and help the church to fight against land grabbers especially those at the shores of lake Victoria.

Mayor Njeru Municipality Yazid Kyazze Sitya loss pledged to work together with the church to secure church land and avoid seeing it being grabbed, as it is being grabbed in different parts of the country.

In this service, Christians managed to contribute 1.000.000 shillings towards the church mission van project, that is planned to be used to spread the gospel in different parts of the diocese.
