The Assistant Bishop of Kampala Diocese, Bishop Hannington Mutebi reminded people to thank the Lord for the goodness he has done for them as it is the only way they can express their appreciation to Him.

He delivered this message during a thanksgiving service organised by Vision group being accompanied by other journalists around the country on March 2nd 2024 at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero in Kampala.

Bishop Mutebi noted that many people run to the Lord during hard times but they don’t return to him for thanksgiving and commended journalists for remembering to thank the lord.

Bishop Mutebi also called upon journalists to strengthen their faith in God saying. ” Don’t underestimate the faith you have in your God because it can move mountains.”

However, he challenged them to mind about the way they write their stories since some people may end up losing hope through reading the stories journalists write.

The woman Member of parliament for Kampala district Hon. Shamim Malende appreciated journalists for initiating the thanksgiving idea.
However, she expressed concern over the long-term imprisonment of opposition politicians and called for their release.

The Minister of state for Kampala Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye appreciated the journalists for the service and suggested that this day be endorsed to take place on March 2nd every year since getting time off from work is necessary and healthy for people’s lives.

Minister Kyofa urged CEOs to take time and meet their employees so that they find a way forward for their organisations.

However, Minister Kabuye challenged journalists to break down the languages in their stories to make it easy for people to understand the messages through them, such as stories about government programs, as this will help people to understand how to engage in such programs, there by getting them involved.

This service was aimed at journalists thanking the Lord for the achievements and protection through the challenges they went through in 2023 and to dedicate themselves to the Lord, and praying for the families of deceased journalists. And it was attended by the FDC spokes person John Kikonyogo, MP Shamim Malende, Minister Kyofatogabye, Nabbi Muyingo Bright, Nrm Chairman in Entebbe Steven Shaka and journalists around the country.
