NUP party presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine has been duly nominated for the 2021 general elections.
Like all the other candidates Bobi wine was given a brand new vehicles and security detail.
This makes him the fourth candidate to be duly nominated and the first on day two of the 2021 elections presidential nominations.
Others are NRM Yoweri Museveni, Mugisha Muntu Gregg ANT, and Gen.Tumukunde
Bobi wine has had quite an adventurous and vibrant journey to the presidential nomination grounds at Kyambogo this morning.
Kyagulanyi started off his journey from his home in Magere at about 8 am after a brief prayer from his pastor and a chat with his children.
He then started his journey alongside his entourage to Kyambogo while being escorted by armed security operatives, hardly had he left Magere than chanting crowds foaming at the roadside caused police to fire teargas to dismiss them.
Bobi wine continued his journey amidst vibrant supporters who stood by the roadside anticipating his passing.
Some of the supporters who were seen clad in red berets were arrested.
There is still heavy Police and military deployment along Kisaasi, Ntinda, and Nakawa and spear motors junction route where Bobi wine is currently passing.
Bobi wine was stalled at Nakawa for a while after his car tyre inflated amidst heavy deployment.
He spoke to the media shortly accusing police of delaying them by making several stopovers yet he has adhered to all the requirements.
There was a brief altercation between the police and journalists who were trying to cover the event.
Police fired teargas and paper spray at some of Bobi wine’s supporters and some arrests were made, Bobi wine was left to proceed to Kyambogo while a section of his entourage was stopped at Nakawa.
Meanwhile, the panel of EC officials was already set and already waiting at the Kyambogo nomination grounds awaiting the arrival of Bobi wine who is over 30 minutes late.
The EC Chief Justice Simon Byabakama was not happy with his late arrival but nonetheless proceeded to nominate him.
