One of the attracting local tournament in Uganda, the boxing Champions League day two ended with various knock out registered on Saturday at Kamwokya.
Muzamirru Ssemuddu of Kololo boxing club, a John Blaq body guard knocked down East Coast’s Mawanda De-Packer in the second round.
Muzamiru who lost a place in the bombers team last year after failing to become number one in his weight.
“I have a dream, I want to number one in my category so that i represent my country in the continental and international tournaments by I turn professional to start lookin for serious money” Muzamir told MSNEWS Sports on Saturday 20 May 2023.
“This is just a start, i warn all boxers in weight that am here for national team the bombers, no wasting time” Ssemujju replied after his knock out against Mawanda.
Ssemuddu, who lost all of his first 3 fights in the first round of the champions league came back with improved tactics, wining two of his fights in the second round defeating UPDF’s John Owino and Matugga’s Kasujja and losing to a controversial fight to Isaac Zebra Jr which brought confusion among the fans including John Blaq contesting the judge’s decision.
15 bouts were fought and a number of knock outs were registered including, Mukisa Jema knocking out Leila Kalule, Ronald Okello of Gulu boxing club knocking down Ojok of Brawn boxing club among others.
Champions League, is the tournament aimed for national team the bombers selection and each winner in his weight will automatically join the bombers.
This was the first champions league fought when their president Moses Muhangi is in jail where he was taken on Thursday on counts of forgery, false documents and misappropriation of public funds.
