FUFA has set strict rules for referees and assistant referees intending to earn Fifa badges and officiate in international matches.

First, the federation has decided that only referees between 25 and 30 years and assistants of age between 23 and 30 years will be considered for nomination now and in future The federation believes that the move will help to develop referees for higher levels – AFCON and World Cup.

Above that, any referee currently holding a Fifa badge and takes two years without appointment to any international match will be withdrawn and slot passed on to a new candidate.

A referee or assistant who will take five years without being appointed to officiate at an international tournament will be withdrawn from the list.
