Buganda Kingdom confirms the arrest of Ibrahim Musana

Following the circulation of frivolous, demeaning, malicious and unfounded publications and information against His Majesty the King of Buganda and other dignitaries in the country including the Katikkiro, making rounds on social media notably Tik tok shared in the User name of @pressure_24seven, the perpetrator appearing in the video clips known as Ibrahim Musana has been arrested.

This follows a complaint filed by Buganda kingdom on February 13, 2024 to the CID headquarters in Kibuli reporting to the CID Director the on going misuse of social media, malicious information and hate speech against the Kabaka of Buganda, the Katikkiro and people who religiously pay allegiance to the kabaka of Buganda.

After filing the case, all concerned security agencies including police and crime intelligence started conducting investigations into the matter and through joint efforts arrested Ibrahim Musana the individual who appears in all the malicious media clips . Such as Tik tok, Facebook, Instagram among others.

The kingdom stated that all the efforts to bring the offender to book was initiated by the Kingdom. The kingdom appreciated all Ugandans who later on joined the pursuit of Musana who is now in custody.

Addressing the press at Bulange Mengo, the kingdom spokesperson Owek Israel Kazibwe Kitooke noted that over the time, the kingdom has observed an increase in fake and misleading publications and misinformation circulated by a number of social media users the ridicule and offend the kingdom cultural values and norms, and preach hostility, tribalism, racism, and hate speech, something that is not only morally wrong, but also actionable by law.

Owek Kazibwe therefore called upon all people who are committed towards their king to continue acting with vigilance and condemns such impunity with the contempt it deserves as it not only undermines the Kabaka but the institutions of Kabakaship and, subjects and citizens who exercise their constitutional cultural rights and paying allegiance to the Kabaka.
