The minister of Agriculture, cooperation and business in mengo goverment Owek Haji Hamis Kakoma, has toured the 29th agricultural Expo which is taking place at the source of the nile in jinja.
While speaking to the farmers at the Expo, Owek. Haji Hamis Kakkomo has noted that the kingdom of Buganda greatly relies on farming for its economic development, and urged farmers to put in more efforts to concentrate on farming as it is profitable.
Owek Haji Hamis Kakomo has appealed to the youth to invest in farming, noting coffee farming to develop themselves, and arged farmers to make up cooperative societies to earn more money to invest in their farming.
He added that in abid to improve on the quality of their coffee production, they need to invest in machines, so that they can get more quality productions, to increase on their profits.
The Deputy CEO of the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) which is the expo chief organiser Grace Kawumi, has commended Buganda kingdom for the cooperation with UNFFE and pledged to continue working together with the kingdom.
However, he has appealed to the King of Buganda to put it into His plans to pay avisit to the farmers during next year’s expo.
Different farming organisations and farmers have exhibited in their capacities, and among them include Buganda Cultural Development Foundation (BUCADEF), which has exhibited processed coffee, good quality coffee seeds, and machines that are used to process cassava and maize.
This expo is to end on Sunday 13th/08/2023, and the president of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to close it.
