Buganda Kingdom has renewed a 3 years partnership with Centenary bank through sponsoring the Buganda Masaza cup as a way of developing it and to gain more market in Buganda region.
While witnessing the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the 2 parties, the Buganda Premier Owek Charles Peter Mayiga noted that centenary bank and Buganda kingdom has similar objectives thereby expressing the importance of working together.
Owek Mayiga stressed that developing Buganda means having the modern people develop in different aspects of life such as being able to feed their families well, have proper accommodation, support their children’s education, have proper health care, engage in commercial agriculture, among others.
He as well pledged on behalf of Buganda kingdom to maintain the partnership trustfully so that both parties fulfill their objectives. However, he commended the youth who engage in Masaza cup tournament saying it helps to develop their talents, and appealed to Centenary bank to join the kingdom to sponsor not only Masaza cup but also more Buganda kingdom games such as bicycle racing, wrestling among others.
The Executive director of Centenary bank Joseph Balikudembe noted that the fact that centenary bank has more branches in Buganda region, it gives them interest in dealing with the kingdom to get more customers.
He added that since he had pledged on behalf of centenary bank that they are to invest 600 million shillings in masaza cup, he revealed that they are to give 200 million shillings each year for the period of the 3 years the partnership is to take.
Joseph Balikuddembe has signed on behalf of Centinary bank and Remmie Kisakye signed on behalf of Buganda kingdom.
