Buganda Kingdom to hold a special thanksgiving service for His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II as his 31 coronation celebrations

As the Kabaka of  Buganda His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II continues going through health challenges, the Kingdom is set to hold a thanksgiving  service to dedicate him and the entire Kingdom into the hands of the Lord to grant him good health.

Currently the Kabaka’s health is being monitored by Doctors in Namibia who advised Him to have time off His duties so that He can get better for Him to safely return to Uganda.

This year’s Coronation will not be celebrated in the usual way through performing all cultural practices to the King since He is not in the country.

On 4/07/2024, the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, launched the organising committee for the 31st Coronation Anniversary celebrations of the King and the Minister in charge of culture and tourism in Buganda Kingdom Owek. Antony Wamala was appointed as the Chairman for the organising committee.

Releasing the Coronation program to the journalists in Mengo, Owek Antony Wamala urged parents and all people to preach the gospel of unity among their children as a respect to the Kabaka’s call in His most recent speech to His subjects.

Owek Wamala noted that, ahead of the Coronation celebrations, the Kingdom has organised various activities across the 18 Kingdom counties for the Kabaka’s service, aimed at strengthening the spirit of unity  as the Kabaka has always pointed out to the Kingdom. He highlighted the activities ahead of the Coronation special service that include;

The Kingdom has involved in voluntary cleaning in all Buganda Kingdom Counties, from 8th -12 July, the Kingdom held a health camp in Gombe Butambala, on 17th july, there has been a launch of the cultural library by the Buganda Heritage and tourism board in Butikkiro and launching of the Kingdom health centres one in Nsangi and another in Kalasa Bulemeezi. 

On 24th July, the kingdom will celebrate 25 years of Buganda Royal institute and public lecture on the coronation theme.

On 26th July, there will be Juma services in all mosques around the kingdom dedicating the King and all Muslim people are encouraged to be part of the Juma service.  

On 27th July, there will be services in different Seventh Day Adventists churches around the Kingdom and Golf tournament at Kampala Golf Court and on the same day, all Masaza tournaments will be dedicated as a Coronation moment.

On 28th, there will be dedicated services in all Anglican, Orthodox  and Catholic churches around the 18 Buganda Counties and on the same day, there will be Mweso game competitions.

And finally, the program will be topped up by the special thanksgiving service dedicating the Kabaka on 31st July 2024 at Namirembe Cathedral and the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Tha Rt Rev Moses Banja is expected to be the main celebrant.

On 30th, the Kingdom will hold a lecture about unity in schools around Buganda region aimed at strengthening unity among the students and all children in schools.

This years Coronation celebrations is under the Theme Our Unity Is The Strength Of Our Monarchy.
