Minister for local government in Buganda kingdom Owek Joseph Kawuki cautioned people who use different platforms and political parties to disrespect the kingdom in different aspects to stay warned as they stand a risk of punishment.
This comes at a time when different people come out and defame the kingdom using different platforms and others open up false cases against the kingdom in court.
Owek Kawuki called upon authorities and leaders of such groups and political parties to keep coming out and clarify to the public if they are not being behind the kingdom disrespect instead of keeping quiet, when these people use their platforms to fulfill their intentions.
The kingdom spokesperson Owek Israel Kazibwe Kitooke cautioned people to stay away from people who use different platforms to defame and turnish the Kingdom’s name, and emphasised that the kingdom is no longer taking this in anymore.
During the introduction of the new Buganda chieftess for mengo Mariam Nansamba to the people of mengo, Owek Kawuki advised all Buganda chiefs around the kingdom to forward the kingdom objectives and arged MPs not to stop asking for the kingdom federal system until the kingdom succeeds.
While leading introduction function, Deputy Kaggo Phiona Kalinda challenged appointed Buganda chieftess to work towards unity within the kingdom and fight against tribal discrimination among the people she leads.
First Deputy Kaggo Bakulu Mpagi cautioned the new Kabaka’s chief to bring together people in the kingdom and work tirelessly to fulfill her assigned responsibilities as they will support her during her work.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Musana, a resident of Kauga in Mukono, had gained prominence on TikTok but faced scrutiny after sharing multiple videos containing derogatory remarks about the Kabaka.
These videos sparked outrage within the Buganda community and beyond.
Authorities immediately launched an investigation into the offensive content, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the individual responsible for creating the videos.
