The prime minister of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has appealed to Ugandans to embrace technology and research in this competitive world.

Mayiga made this call on Friday while delivering his remarks during the 15th graduation ceremony of Buganda royal institute of business and technical education Kakeeka Mmengo Kampala whereby 711 students were awarded Diplomas and certificates from various disciplines among which 444 were females equivalent to 62.45%, and 267 were males making 37.55%.

Among 711 graduands, 310 females were awarded diplomas and 134 certificates whereas 221 males were awarded diplomas and 46 certificates.

The Buganda premier Charles Peter Mayiga said that Ugandans especially educated ones should embrace and put more emphasis on technology and research to succeed in this competitive and dynamic world because these two concepts (technology and research) have dominated the world.
“Graduands should utilize their knowledge and skills they have acquired to be innovative, creative, embrace technology and research as a tool to extend their achievements and brighten their future”, Mayiga said.

Mayiga also applauded institute management for working hard to pass out these graduands in this Covid 19 pandemic with the observation of Standard operating procedures (SOPs) , however he appreciated parents/guardians for educating their children specifically girl child without forcing them into early marriage due to economic gain.

Mayiga adds that many parents have negative attitudes towards girl child compared to boy child saying girls suppose to get married every time which sometimes results into domestic violence, diseases among others, however he urged graduands to avoid luxury and to always be vigilant with HIV/AIDS because it kills.

Dr Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma, minister of education from Buganda/Mmengo government on the same event thanked the King of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for his ever long sustainable fundamental and developmental ideas/projects which benefit the country in all spheres of life citing out various examples such establishment of Muteesa I royal university, Buganda royal institute of business and technical education among others.

However Nankindu also appealed to government of the republic of Uganda to always greatly support vocational education to impact education sector.
