Butambala dislocated Bulange group comfortability with a win that stopped group leaders’ unbeaten run

Butambala defeated leader Buluuli 2-1 to bring back all group members in the contention of reaching quarterfinal stage.

In a game played at Kibibi SS in Butambala, Saturday 24 August 2024.

 Buluuli scored first in the 9 minute of the play with forward Robert Ssewanyana converting from the spot for his 6th of the campaign.

11 minutes later the hosts capitalised on their   dominative play to equalise through captain Nicholas Kirabira with midfielders Derrick Walugembe and Tonny Ndasi playing a big role.

Buluuli just continued to look bad in the game leading Butambala second goal with Derrick Walugembe carving the ball aside Buluuli’s wall to enter the net after kissing on the post with 8 minutes to half time.

With immediate effect Buluuli equalised through  Ssewanyana but the goal couldn’t stand for offside offense.

As Buluuli continuing to look bad, Buluuli fan went weird against their coach Anthony Bongole in attempt to beat him but the security was enough to control the situation.

Bongole reacted with bringing on their midfield star player Muhammad Kanyike and Jacob Opa as substitutes after their long warm up from the 15th minute of the game.

After vthe two replacing Yasin Ssekayanga and Asaph Ssegujja Buluuli saw some improvement but couldn’t provide the wanted result after Butambala playing enough to control the pressure.

Before the game Buluuli has been in comfortable lead of the group which has big teams like defending champions Bulemeezi and Buddu.

After starting with a win over Bulemeezi, they beaten Butambala in first leg, drawn with Kyadondo and Buddu and won Bugerere.

The 2011 Masaza cup champions rounded up the first round of group stage in a fine form but since the return of the reverse fixtures they are yet to win after drawing twice at home before the hard defeat to take.

After 8 games Buluuli is still in lead with 13 points   ahead of Buddu on 11 points, Kyadondo is third on 10 points, Butambala and Bugerere are levelled on 9 points while Bulemeezi is at 5 points.

Besides Buluuli and Butambala the other team are still with 3 games to take and the situation living even Bulemeezi with possibilities of reaching 14 points by winning all their remaining matches.

On Sunday 25 August 2024 Buddu is Visiting their growing rival Kyadondo at Homesdalen Gayaza in a target to go top of the group for the first time also which will be the first time for Buluuli to vacate the top spot of the group.

Bulemeezi is at home for their final try of the campaign welcoming Bugerere who sits 5th with 9 points with both team are at less chance to drop points.
