CAF Executive Programme charts way forward for African football’s strategic growth

The first phase of the inaugural CAF Executive Programme has officially begun, as the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), in partnership with Africa’s highest ranked learning institution, the University of Cape Town (UCT) kicked-off a first of its kind Executive Programme for African football executives earlier this week.

The bespoke programme by CAF, in partnership with UCT is anchored by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s vision and promise of improving efficiency and professionalism in African football – a vision that continues to manifest itself with the recent rise of African football in recent years.  

A total of 23 General Secretaries from CAF’s Member Associations and Zonal Unions are in attendance, with the first phase of the programme conducted virtually between 19 – 22 August, ahead of the final phase where all delegates are expected to complete the programme at the University of Cape Town in South Africa between 01 – 07 September 2024.

The 20-Day programme is conducted by highly skilled and experienced academic and sport industry experts who bring different expertise in bringing to life a programme that will equip African football leaders with the necessary tools for the strategic growth of African football.

Modules to be covered during the course include in Strategic Planning, Operations & Financial Strategy, Legal & Governance, Marketing & Sponsorship as well as Event Management amongst others.

The CAF Executive Programme is anchored by the following four strategic objectives: 

·      To enhance the skills and expertise of African football stakeholders.

·      To build the capacity of role-players within CAF’s 54 member associations.

·      To drive innovation and encourage football executives to expand their strategic acumen and strengthen their leadership capabilities.

·      To contribute to the advancement and sustainability of African football.

With the programme officially underway in its virtual format, CAF in partnership with the University of Cape Town will conduct an official opening ceremony on Sunday, 01 September where CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe alongside UCT Vice Chancellor, Professor Moshabela are expected to attend.

The programme will conclude on Saturday, 07 September with a graduation ceremony for all attendees.
