Catholic sisters through Sisters of Blended Value Project have been commended for spearheading projects aimed at improving people’s well being through various economic trainings.
This has been disclosed by the principle investigator in the Association of Consecrated women in Eastern and Central Africa ( ACWECA) and lecturer at Strathmore university Dr. Angela Nduge during the Uganda Annual Small Medium Enterprise ( SME) conference and expo in Kampala driven under the theme empowering Ugandans SMEs and social enterprises for future.
She says Catholic sisters have introduced a new concept on how they empower communities to be able to run their business even if they are not funded by any institution and this concept is crucial to SMEs since it will help to sustain them.
Nduge adds that this conference has brought together various speakers , entrepreneurs to share various ideas on how they can better do their business especially at this time where Uganda is challenged with unemployment and there is new to train young people to know how they can start up business with out waiting for white collar jobs.
Sister Celestine Nasiali the project coordinator of Sisters Blended Value project under ACWECA explains that they empower people through training and transform their well being through sustainable enterprises and they equip them with necessary knowledge ,network with others enterprises as they learn how other people in various businesses operate.
Fred Muhumuza a seniors economist appealed to all those in SMEs to avoid avoid borrowing to start up any business but borrow to sustain their business ,know how they reach the market ,know the target audience and cut costs to be able to sustain their businesses.
