CATHRINE NANZIRI READY TO TAKE ON TANZAN’s Egine Kanyange FOR AFRICAN TITLE

Saturday,19 will be a battle day for African women’s title when Uganda female bantam professional number one Catherine Nanziri takes on Tanzanian female boxer Egine Kanyange in the 10 round bout at MTN arena, Lugogo. Nanziri, a former Olympian has four fights on her professional side and set to make it five if she outcomes Kanyange, on Saturday while her opponent has 8 wins out of 12 professional fights.

And Nanziri, first and only female boxer to represent Uganda at Olympics, will be going for an African title.

“My preparations for this fight are very high and intense than the previous ones,” Nanziri told Media.

“This is a tough fight, I am going to be challenging the African title belt and I need to convince all the judges.”

“Am more than ready, just waiting for my fans on Saturday to show them a good fight” Nanziri, stated.

Nanziri beat Achieng by Unanimous decision in her last fight on November 26 last year at Club Obligato.

The Tanzanian opponent is the Country’s number one and more experienced than Nanziri having turned pro back in 2019.

She has won eight of her 12 fights, and best Halima Bandola last month in Dar Es Salaam.

Nanziri, 23, will fancy her chances on home soil to continue her impressive start in Pro career.

Other fights of the day include, Kamada Ntege commonly known as Sure Fire taking on Abdu Mutyaba in a 8 round fight in Middle weight, Stanley Mugerwa taking on Tanzanian Mwinyi Mzengele  in a 12 round bout for East and Central ABU title, Onyango Ignatius vs Odoi Tafuu, Abdu Njego vs Daniel Mpologoma in a 6 round bout, Muwanguzi Tom vs Kitaka Ibrahim in super welter 6 round, Jimmy Ngaboyeka vs Frank Ngobi in a 6 round bout, Ibrahim Mukibi vs Patrick Tokeema, Shalom Nabukenya vs Irene Faith, Shadiru Musa vs TBA for East and Central ABU super middle weight title.

Akram Iga, the promoter for this battle for Africa event have promised Ugandans to watch good fighting from good fighters.

Tomorrow, Friday will be a weighing-in for the boxers and Saturday 19 August 2023 will be the fight.

The ABU African Women’s Bantamweight title will go for 12 rounds and is organised by A&B promotions
