Land conflicts are happening in Busukuma as unknown people have appeared and started destroying plantations and demolishing graveyards without conscent from the owners.

The affected persons is a couple of Edisa Namagembe aged 65 and her husband John Ssewava, residents of Kasozi in Buskuma Subcounty, Nansana Municipality. Nelson Matovu who claims to be the land owner instructed his body guards to come and evict these people from the land where they have been staying for years.

Namagembe noted that she is the adminstrator of this 4 acres land found at block 142 plot 78,  which belonged to his late grand father George William Sentamu. He said that the goons came with pangas and never gave them chance to talk to them but they started with destroying their plantations.

As a result, they tried to protect their plantations and the hens which they cut, and this forced the goons to beat them severally until they escaped.

Namagembe narrated that Matovu claims to have bought this land yet the people he delt with are not direct sons and daughters in that family. She said the more times they have sat to look into that case right from Lc level to court, Matovu was being defeated.

She said that Matovu used the covid 19 lockdown period to go to high court when they could not move to court, but when they were defeated, they appealed, but they were surprised to see people destroying their property.

John Ssewava has therefore appealed to the authority to help them get justice since their appeal has not yet been considered yet they have nowhere to go and to transfer the graveyards to.

Matovu, the claimed land owner confirmed the demolition and said that he already won the case from the court but Namagembe is just becoming stubborn. He added that he seeks for compensation from Namagembe for the period of time the case has taken being heard.
