The Archbishop of the church of Uganda His Grace Dr. Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu noted that the signs of environmental degradation and the impacts of climate change have become increasingly evident each day that passes reminding religious leaders of their responsibility to steward God’s creation.” We are in a climate crisis and we can all attest to this!” He emphasised.

Church of Uganda has organized different events to foster the conservation efforts that will eventually see congregations in different Dioceses adequately sensitized, empowered and supported to effectively get involved in environment protection and climate change mitigation.

This year, Church of Uganda will be having two Environment weeks. The 1st Environment week started from 17th March and will end on 22nd March 2024 while the second week will be from 4th to 9th September 2024.

A number of activities have been planned for this environment week, such as lunch hour fellowships on Online COU focusing on Environment Conservation. The Archbishop will also hold a webinar for Church of Uganda leaders and other key stakeholders to expound more on the role of the Church in promoting Climate action and environment conservation.

“Regardless of our faiths, let us come together, to protect and preserve the Earth which is our shared home and combat the effects of Climate Change. I call upon all the like minded partners to support Church of Uganda to restore the lost glory of God’s creation.” Dr.Kazimba noted.
