COSASE demands previous equal opportunities commission members appear to account for missing 5 billion.

The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has dismissed officials from the Equal Opportunities Commission and summoned the chairperson Sylvia Natambi to appear in person.
This follows a discovery that 5bn in total expenditure for the financial year 2015/2016, 4 years later is unaccounted for and all the accounting officers have either resigned or been interdicted.
For a meeting that normally takes close to 4 hours in session, it was not business as usual as the equal opportunities commission faced COSASE.
In 40 minutes it was a wrap and at centre of the controversy is the shs5bn for the financial year 2015/2016 that the auditors failed to find accountability for.
Tasked to explain this anomaly, the accounting officer equal opportunities commission Evans Jemba revealed that the documents were confiscated by CID.
Four years down the road, the documents have never been retrieved.
Tasked to explain why the documents have never been retrieved, it is then that the chairperson COSASE Mubarak Munyagwa made a discovery that accounting officer EvansJembais a month old in the position.
Even more shocking, the committee discovered that half of the commissioners supposed to appear were absent and 13 had resigned while 5 members under investigation.
Munyagwa dismissed the officials,issuing fresh summons for the then accounting officer Catherine Amari and chairperson equal opportunities commission Sylvia Nabatanzi Muwebwa to appear in person.
The officials are expected back before the committee on the Monday 8th July 2019.
