A Grade One Magistrate Ms Stella Maris Amabilis has on November 6, issued criminal summons against the Forum for Democratic Change’s Secretary for Mobilization Ms Ingrid Turinawe for snubbing court.

This is after a request by the State Prosecutor Ms Miriam Njuki, who notified court that Ms Turinawe was not in court to answer her charge of common nuisance.

However, the defense lawyer Mr Isaac Ssemakadde told Court that his client Turinawe was reportedly arrested on Monday by Police on her way to Mandela National Stadium for a conference and she has since then been in custody.

The prosecution alleges that on August 4, 2019 at Kampala Central Police Station, Turinawe did an act that caused annoyance and inconvenienced the public in the common rights thereby leading to a conclusion that she is a common nuisance.

The accused reportedly assaulted Detective Sergeant Patrick Alunyu thereby causing him actual bodily harm.  By the time of committing the said crime, Turinawe had gone to visit six supporters of Jailed Dr Stella Nyanzi who were being held by police on charges of inciting violence.
