Court martial sentences one to life imprisonment

The 5TH  division  court martial of the UPDF sitting in Agogo being headed by Colonel Ismail Sendagire has sentenced one, private Michael Mukanja attached to 79TH  Battalion to life imprisonment after being confirmed guilty for murder, and  private George Okello of 81ST  battalion to 30 years for attempted murder.

The court martial was informed that on may 31st 2023,  private Mukanja shot and killed Justine Omol after a disagreement over a football match at Paimol sub county playground in Kokil trading centre.

More still, court heard that on 27TH  August 2023, the convict in Lira Kato sub-county shot and injured John Odwel after developing a disagreement and the injured is still under going treatment.

During the same court sitting, private  Ivan Sekajja was sentenced to 14 months in prison for failing to protect war material.

Colonel Ismail Sendagire stated that the UPDF will continue to stick on its values  and does not condone acts of  its men turning guns against the population its meant to protect.
