Kampala district aspirant woman member of parliament DP’s Sumayiyah Muwonge has said she is to use all strategies to protect her votes.
Sumayiyah revealed the information yesterday during the meeting with media which was mainly aimed at appreciating their roles towards economic development of the country saying media always do great role to the rise of the any country worldwide but sometimes ignored.
“I want always to associate with media since am a journalist myself by profession, I know what it means to be a fourth estate especially in countries where democracy exists, she added”
Sumayiyah is eying for Kampala district woman legislator seat on DP ticket who will compete with NRM’s Faridah Nambi who recently won NRM primaries, NUP’s Shamim Malende among others in the forthcoming general elections next year 2021, despite she is worried of violence and conflicts existed in the ruling NRM party recent primaries.
She says that violence, brutality and other acts against elections always take place in elections including vote rigging especially in LDCs, but she has strong strategies and network to protect her votes.
“Am sure I will keep and protect my votes, and I cannot keep silent to rig me, she added”.
Asked her expectations if she is elected, Sumayiyah highlighted a number of expectations such as establishment of youths development projects to help them fight against poverty, building strong rapport with development partners as away of lobbying, establishment of women’s projects to also allow them earn a living, putting pressure onto people concerned to improve infrastructure development, channels, access to clean water, electricity, education, good accessible health facilities among others in Kampala.
Sumayiyah Muwonge is a journalist by profession who worked with Bukedde TV, Salt media among others.
DP,s secretary general Gerald Siranda, welcomed Sumayiyah Muwonge to join Democratic party as the mother of all other political parties saying as DP, they are to give all support to Sumayiyah Muwonge to win the race.
