Denis Onyango to testify at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Uganda’s award winning footballer Denis Onyango will share his testimony at the upcoming National Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday next week.

According to the organizing chairperson David Bahati, also State minister for Finance, Onyango, Uganda Cranes’ captain “will share his entire story during this 21st Annual National Prayer Breakfast” at Pearl of Africa Hotel gardens.

Onyango deservingly won the prestigious African Player of the Year accolade in 2016. Born and bead in Uganda, Onyango began his career from the country before he went to play in the South African Premier Soccer League with SuperSport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Mamelodi Sundowns.

With Mamelodi Sundowns, he won the 2016 CAF Champions League and took part in the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup. He represented Uganda at the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, 2017. Onyango started his career with SC Villa in Kampala and later joined St. George SA in Ethiopia. In 2006, Onyango joined South African Premier Soccer League side SuperSport United. The Uganda Sports Press Associations voted Onyango as the best sports personality in the month of October 2016 in Uganda. Onyango is renowned for his penalty-saving and his play in one-on-one situations.

While briefing the press at Parliament, Bahati said that the essence of the prayer breakfast is to remind legislators and leaders in the country, of their role in making laws, policies and decisions that respect and develop mankind as children of God and to deepen our relationship with God.

“It is also to give our Nation that Spiritual strength, to renew and strengthen those bonds of brotherhood with the faithful across our Country and around the world. The National Prayer Breakfast also gives us the opportunity to ask for God’s guidance and express our gratitude for what he has given us,” he said.

The National Prayer Breakfast brings together people from all faiths and political parties, a high profile representative from all branches of government, members of the diplomatic corps, the business community, national and international guests, and the media; for fellowship, prayer and encouragement as a family.

“Every year we are joined by delegations from the East African Community, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, US, Europe and Asia, among others, to pray together as stewards of God,” Bahati added.

President Yoweri Museveni will be among the key personalities. Pr. Johnny Enlow, a Senior Apostolic Leader at Harvest International Ministries (H.I.M) and a Founder of Daystar International Christian Fellowship in Atlanta, will be the keynote speaker.
