On Sunday Police foiled a bomb attack at Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle center church in Lubag.

Yesterday Monday other bombs were found in areas of Natete Kampala and Ngobe village Bunamwaya division Makindye Ssaabagabo municipality Wakiso district and they were both detonated which forced police under Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango to issue a directive of every accommodation area to commence registration of each and every guest to know his or her identity as a way to fight these acts of terrorism.

Addressing the media on Tuesday at party headquarter Kampala during its weekly presser, Ismael Kiirya the president of Uganda young democrats under Democratic Party (DP) said as Democratic Party they would like to query where is the security to understand the plans of these terrorists before even assembling the bombs.

He says the reason why security is given a classified Budget is to invest in all kinds of security apparatuses which can detect a person who has plans to commit such kinds of crimes.

“It’s just unfortunate that our security understands to foil plans of opposition leaders rather than terrorists, should we say they slept on the job because if that bomb blasted at the scene how many people would have died?” Kiirya asked

He says in 2021 as the president was nearing to swear in, the Police came out and told the public about a group which was planning to disorganize the swearing in, they even went further to display cards claimed to have got from this group with words like “Tajjakulayira”.

”Why can’t you identify these terrorists at their initial stage?” Kiirya asked.

He however thanked the police for the quick response to act professionally which saved millions of people in and around the church.

He further advised the public to be more vigilant to one another and not to leave such issues to police because their capacity is to know when the bomb has been assembled and being taken to the scene.

“So if these terrorists decide to blast these bombs immediately after assembling them, some of you will be victims,” Kiirya said.

Kiirya also commented on reducing expenditure on the president’s office.

Kiirya says that ever since the World Bank put a stop on the new Ugandan loans, a lot of proposals have come out to mitigate the crisis and one of them is to cut expenditures on the president’s office.

”First of all as Uganda Young Democrats we are happy for the World Bank not to clear any other loan to Uganda because the public debt had become a burden to us Ugandans more so Young people, ” Kiirya added.

He says this is the time now to see how Uganda moves through this new normal without loans, however he revealed that we should not only look at one Ministry of the President, if really we are serious about this saying let’s look at each and every institution in the three arms of government that is parliament, Judiciary and Executive.

About the new American Ambassador to Uganda.

Four days ago William Popp was appointed new US ambassador to Uganda. Popp’s appointment was announced by the U.S. Mission in Uganda on their Twitter/X handle on Friday, September 1, 2023.

Kiirya says as Democratic Party they would like to congratulate Mr William Popp for this new assignment and wish him a good stay in Uganda. He adds that they will plan a visit to them at the embassy to strengthen their diplomatic relations with them and the Embassy.
