The Electoral Commission has said it hasn’t released the electoral programme for the Administrative Units (LC 1 & 2) and Women Councils and Committees Elections, 2023.
This is after the Electoral Commission noted that some individuals and media houses were circulating a programme claiming that it is the approved electoral programme for the Administrative Units (LC 1 & 2) and Women Councils and Committees Elections, 2023.
In a statement, Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, the Chairperson, Electoral Commission, says they have since established that the said electoral programme is indeed an internal working document (prototype) that was shared before approval.
“This prototype programme was for purposes of discussing the proposed durations for the conduct of the said elections and is, therefore, not an approved electoral programme,” Byabakama says, appealing to Political Parties and Organisations, aspiring candidates and their supporters, and all other stakeholders, to ignore that document and wait until such a time when the Commission will approve and formally release the electoral programme.
