A city lawyer Muwada Nkunnyinji has strongly condemned the electoral commission over delaying him for access to information of the academic documents for president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Speaking to media at his office Balintuma Rd in Namirembe,noted that he used the same law and procedure requesting for academic papers of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as submitted for nomination in 2016 like the one Male Mabiriiza used to request for Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who was responded by the commission in three days.
According to him, the information is circulating in media indicates that the chairperson electoral commission Justice Simon Byabakama said they will not issue him the requested academic papers of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alleging the release of Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu that was done in error.
He strongly and publicly reminded the Uganda electoral commission, that the equal opportunities act, 2007 makes it discrimination to do any act, omission, or offering exclusion or preference which, directly or indirectly, has the effect of impairing equal opportunities or resulting in unequal treatment of persons in the enjoyment of rights and freedom on the basis of among others political opinion.
“Its worth a risky that we don’t only continue to pursue the restoration of the rule of law and constitutionalism but as well advocate for equal opportunities and retirement by public bodies like electoral commission which seems failing on equality, he added”.
