University leaders have been tasked to exercise patience in their leadership, an attribute of the NRM Chairman and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

They were tipped off by the NRM Secretary General Rt.hon. Richard Todwong at Makerere University during a one-day training of University guild leaders on patriotism and good governance among young people.

The training was organized by the Directorate of Youth and Institutions at the NRM Secretariat.

“The 38 years of NRM are not by mistake. No, our leader (President Museveni) is always very patient and consultative to ensure good decisions. This is a lesson you should learn today not to panic,” Todwong said.

“This is how we have avoided mistakes that befall other countries,” the NRM head of secretariat said.

As young people, Todwong told the university leaders to always read and be informed, “Read about society dynamics and how communities develop to modernity,” he added.

The NRM principal underscored discipline, humility and respect for leaders and colleagues as a fundamental contribution to youth personal growth, “Be humble and flexible to fit into any environment after education.”

Corruption

The Secretary General who had no kind words for the corrupt government officials urged the young people to shun such vices in their services.

“We should be bitter about the subject of corruption. Speak firmly about corruption. It is the biggest problem we have as a government not opposition. The People are tired of us because of the stealing of public resources by a few. We need to advocate for a future where wearing yellow is admirable,” Mr Todwong said.

The event was attended by the NRM Patron at Makerere University Prof. Elia Hisali among others.
