President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni this afternoon welcomed Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, the Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defence Force, in a meeting held at State House Entebbe. Also present were Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the UPDF, and Ethiopian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Etsegenet Bezabih.

During the meeting, President Museveni discussed with his guests the strategies implemented by the NRM government to drive socio-economic transformation. He addressed the past challenges faced by Uganda, attributing them to strategic errors made by previous administrations.

“They were philosophical, ideological, and strategic mistakes,” he said.

President Museveni assured his guests that the government had taken strategic steps to rectify these mistakes and emphasised the current focus on enhancing wealth creation initiatives at the grassroots level to alleviate poverty among the population.
