Forum for Democratic Change FDC has held the 17th National Council Meeting with the call to the Katonga faction of the party to return to their party so that it operates as one party without divisions and conflicts.

The 17th National Council meeting, convened at the party headquarters, Najjanankumbi is the first council meeting since the election of the new Najjanankumbi faction party leadership on October 6, 2023.

As the second largest organ of the party after the national delegates conference. This Council meeting aimed at discussing means on how to settle party on going conflicts, and how the party is to move forward, other issues such as pending district elections, among other activities to run the party.

Chaired by Hon. Jack Sabiiti, the council received reports from party leaders led by party President Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat. It also endorsed the proposed standing committees and Deputy Secretaries, as proposed by the President and National Executive Committee.

Speaking to the press during the council meeting, the Party Chairperson Jack Sabiti emphasised that they will be pleased to see the other party faction coming back to their home to resolve the conflicts on going into the party and move forward as one party. He added that the other faction going out of the party is a simple matter that can easily be resolved within the party and make the party move smoothly.

Sabiiti appealed to NEC members to work hard to see that they involve in moblisation and Chairpersons to do their roles and look at the party structures sothat it is well set with enough representatives at different levels for the next elections.

However, Sabiiti expressed concern over allegations towards the party about the money it gets to run the party activities and emphasised that whatever money the party gets to support its running is got from a healthy source.

The keynote address by Dr. Frank Nabwiso underscored the theme ” Overcoming the storm, focusing on unity and party growth” aiming for the FDC to become the next ruling Party in Uganda.

The Treasurer General, Hon. Geoffrey Ekanya, provided a comprehensive financial report, outlining the party’s current financial status and future projections.
The Electoral Commission’s report presented by Hon Toterebuka Bamwenda focused on the recently concluded party structure elections.

Rt Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary General, gave an update on the party’s overall status and health to the council members.

The Council also made a number of other resolutions that will steer the party’s direction moving forward.
