Today 21, Thursday, 2023, marks the final day of nominations for all the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party members aspiring to run for positions on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the FDC.

A total of 77 candidates have been officially nominated to compete for various positions within the NEC which are currently 38.

While speaking to candidates at the end of the nominations day, Hon. Toterebuka Bamwenda, the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the party thanked all of them for stepping forward to seek leadership roles within the party.

The candidates will now embark on their campaigns, reaching out to delegates across the country. The elections for the NEC are scheduled to take place on October 6, 2023.

Those who have been nominated are Party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafaabi, Jack Ssabiti who is looking for replacing the current Party Chairman Amb. Wasswa Birigwa, John kikonyogo, Moses Byamugisha among others.

Nathan Nandala Mafaabi says no person could bribe him to sale the party because no money in enough on this planet Earth.
“No person could bribe me and I want to assure you that what is being done is in line with party’s constitution,” Nandala added.

He however lashed at the newly elected party General Secretary under Col. Kiiza Besigye, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, and Erias Lukwago’s faction Harold Kaija for being incompetent to run this position saying even he (Kaija) can’t run the office of a local council.

Patrick Oboi Amuriat says Col. Besigye deliberately refused to support him during the last 2021, general elections because Amuriat failed to support the NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.
“Col. Besigye didn’t support me during 2021 general elections because I also refused to support Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to,”POA said.

POA adds that it was a very huge regrettable error made to welcome Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago in the party from Democratic party (DP).
“It was an immense error made to allow Erias Lukwago in the party because is always a trouble causer,” POA said.

He noted that he is to dismiss the party Chairman Amb. Wasswa Birigwa and the party vice Chairman in charge of Eastern region Proscovia Salaamu Musumba who he termed as comedians.
“With powers give to me by the party constitution am going to dismiss these members because they Comedians/Dikuula,”POA stated.
